Many factors affect your auto insurance premiums, including your age, make and model of your car, where your car is garaged, your driving record, and maybe your credit report. Although you can’t do much about some of these factors, here are a few things you can do to help lower your premiums.
- Increase your deductible.
- Eliminate optional coverage (e.g.) towing and labor, rental insurance.
- Eliminate comprehensive and collision coverage if you drive an older vehicle and can afford to pay for the repairs if necessary.
- Avoid buying a vehicle that is prone to theft or expensive repairs.
- Take the defensive driving course and drive safely to establish a good driving record.
